Fun Recipes for Kids to Try Out During Holiday

Donuts!

Remember my WW post about Evan having donuts with his fellow kinder students last week? Those pictures were taken on their “cooking day” event last month. It is a school event held once a month, which on that day the students will try out some Fun Recipes for Kids. On cooking day the students are to bring ingredients from home then the teachers will demonstrate the cooking process first before asking them to take turns to try it. It’s a fun event!

However last month they did it differently, instead of having cooking day at school, they went to a donut shop to see the process of making donuts. Although the kids didn’t have a chance to make donuts by themselves there, as they had to hurry back to school, they certainly had fun having donuts together with their own choice of toppings!

Before they left, the shop owner gave a simple donut recipe to the students so they can try it at home with their parents. So we tried the recipe last week and this time the boy had a chance to make donuts from the scratch! The recipe is surprisingly easy enough to follow, and the donuts turned out good. We finished eating them almost right away and forgot to take picture of the ready donuts. But we do have picture of him while making them.

This just gave me an idea how to keep my boy from being bored during this school break. He will have a one and half month long holiday starting next week and, as we can not always go out everyday, it’s easy for him to get bored just playing with toys at home. So to make the holiday more fun I will prepare some easy and fun recipes to try out together, maybe once a week, during this holiday.

watermelon limeade

For a start we will make this watermelon limeade next week. What do you think? Looks so fresh and perfect for summer right? And the ingredients needed are so easy to find. I only need watermelon, lime juice, sugar, lime slices and ice cubes. Hmm… I think I already have them all in my fridge right now. Can’t wait to try it. So what’s your plan for your kids’ holiday? Why not cooking with them, it will be fun!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Cooking is definitely a fun and exciting activity for kids. It stirs their imagination, hones their motor skills and mental skills, too, and is also a good bonding activity between parents and children.
